OUR HIGHEST GRADE 6 INSTRUCTOR

Emerging Left and Right Minor to Major

Remember the pupil should have already done approaching turning corners so they should be familiar with the MSPSL routine and the only difference should be the look.

Recap the last lesson.
Ask if they have done emerging before.
What did your instructor say you would be doing today?
Aim of the lesson

Q+A
How do we recognise T-junctions?

Tell them the approach is the same as turning corners except the look is different so you want to ask a couple of questions to find out what he knows.

We are turning left What mirrors do you check what are you looking for.
What signal do we give?
What position should we approach in?
What speed were you slowing down to for the turn?
What gear were you choosing?
Why did you have to bring the clutch up?
Why not to fast on approach/ not to slow

Leave the look as this is going to be briefed on

Good a couple of questions on the right turn

Same questions as above.

When this is finished explain the left turn and observations Right Left Right minimum.
Emerging into the traffic flow not making anyone slowdown swerve or stop.
Importance of building the speed up on the new road
Steering line

As above explaining the right turn and the added danger of crossing the path of one car and merging into the other.

When practising see if he uses the MSM correctly but remember if he has not emerged to stop him at the first couple of junctions to ensure correct observations are taking place.
